HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The winter storm that has kept residents of south central Kansas under either winter storm warning or advisories caused plenty of damage to trees and in turn power lines in the area.
Westar Energy officials said on their website that they experienced significant damage in and around Hutchinson area. They reported numerous crews being out Sunday working to restore your power but it could be as late as Wednesday before all power is restored is restored in the area.
When we checked their website around 5 p.m. Sunday, there were 2, 541 customers in Reno County without power.
Now that doesn’t include those served by other electric companies such as Ark Valley Electric or Midwest Energy.
If you’re without power, you’re probably not alone. And as more branches fall, this could effect more customers. Westar and the other electric companies are working to restore power and repair damage to their systems. But, you will have to be patient.
