HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Residents were shaken this morning by a rather strong earthquake that was felt throughout central Kansas.
The tremor happened around 1:40 this morning and was felt throughout Reno County. No reports of any damage so far. The USGS says the quake measured 4.7 on the Richter Scale with a depth of about 6.2 km, and was located near Cherokee, Okla., or about 120 miles south of Hutchinson. The earthquake was one of five reported in Oklahoma in the past 24 hours.
