HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 27-year-old man arrested on Nov. 3 on several charges involving the distribution of drugs made a first appearance Thursday morning.
Kristopher Lee Richards faces potential charges of possession of methamphetamine, K-2 or synthetic marijuana, Oxycontin and marijuana all with intent to distribute. Other potential charges include possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp and possession of a firearm and driving while suspended.
In court, he told Pro-tem Judge Greg Bell that he was driving while suspended and did have a handgun in the vehicle, but denies that the drugs were his.
However, he already has another case pending where he is charged with possession of methamphetamine and Hydrocodone with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana. That case goes back to Oct. 19.
He was apparently free on bond when the latest arrest was made and Bell declined to lower from the current amount of $30,150.
He will be back in court on the new charges on Nov. 19 while the earlier case is scheduled as part of a waiver-status docket on Dec. 2.
