NEWTON, Kan. – On Thursday evening, A Newton Police Officer attempted to stop a truck entering I-135 from Broadway, but the vehicle fled from the officer.
A high speed chase followed and members of the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office joined in. The chase at times went off road, and through fences. The truck was totaled and the man fled on foot.
Members of Newton Police, Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, North Newton and Hesston Police joined in a two hour search.
At approximately 2:10 a.m. Friday, a second vehicle was stolen from a concrete lot, and after a short chase, the man was taken into custody by a Newton officer.
