HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A local man was back in court Wednesday for the reading of charges including one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as well as criminal damage and interference with law enforcement.
Curtis Garcia was before Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen where he was read the compliant that alleges that on Oct. 14, he was intoxicated and was angry, waving a pistol around while a female and at least one child were in the home. Garcia then reportedly broke the gun at some point and then grabbed a knife. He’s also alleged to have damaged property within the home during this altercation. This occurring in the 1900 block of North Walnut.
According to initial reports, police saw him get into a truck and they yelled “police” and told him to get out of the vehicle. At some point, he jumped out and ran from the officers but was quickly captured.
He’s free on a $5,000 bond and with the charges filed, the case will move to a waiver-status docket on Dec. 2.
