A 24-year-old Raymond, Kansas man was granted 24-months probation on a 12-month sentence for a conviction of aggravated battery. That sentence was handed down Friday by Judge Tim Chambers.
Dane Wood was convicted for punching a guy in the face in what Judge Chambers described as a “sucker punch.” In the process, he broke the victims jaw, that being Cody Riggs. This occurring on December 22, 2012, here in Reno County.
It wasn’t until January 15, of this year that Wood turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office, then posted the 10-thousand dollar bond and the case proceeded through the court.
Judge Chambers described the incident as an “apparition” in his life, because Wood had virtually no contact with law enforcement until this incident.
The judge ordered Wood to apologize to the victim in person. This is something that Judge Chambers will do occasionally in certain cases, this apparently being one of them.
