SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The annual Mennonite Friendship Communities benefit auction is changing locations and will have a wide selection of outdoor, sports and entertainment items.
Doors for the auction open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Journey @ Yoder, one mile north of Yoder on Yoder Road. A breakfast of donuts and pastries will be served before the auction starts at 9:30 a.m. with auctioneer Paul Nisly.
“In the past, mfc volunteers and staff have spent a great deal of time and energy setting up spaces on campus to house the benefit day activities,” Lowell Peachey, president and CEO, said. “Moving to the Journey at Yoder Activity Center has allowed us to concentrate on putting the auction together. As an added bonus, it eliminates weather as a potential barrier to attracting buyers on sale day.”
A cookie room is being brought back by popular demand. Fill a box of cookies for $10 and help a great cause.
Proceeds from the sale and from the breakfast go to the Continuing Care Endowment Fund, which was established to defray costs for those who have outlived their financial resources. Nearly 65 percent of residents in the nursing home rely on state funds and the Continuing Care Endowment Fund for care.
The Amish school in Yoder will provide lunch.
The auction will include the sale of a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt and a 2005 Toyota Camry XLE. Bid on a new John Deere D110 Lawn Tractor, a new model A90410 pellet fired Yoder smoker, a new 6×9 pergola, a new 8×12 shed, live butcher hogs, live sheep, a Bill Self autographed basketball, a Bill Snyder autographed football, 4 tickets to the Kansas City Royals, 7 tickets and 1 parking pass to the Kansas City Chiefs, hot air balloon rides, new oak chairs, a new GE beverage center and wine cooler, quilts, comforters, a carnival glass punch bowl, a Hans Mast original tornado photo, 200 gallons of diesel fuel from Bridgman Oil, live butchering hogs, live sheep and more!
