TOPEKA – Two Hutchinson organizations have been awarded more than $78,000 in grants to provide services for victims of crime, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced yesterday.
The grants were awarded to the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Center in the amount of $36,750 to support the operations of the child exchange and visitation center.
They also received $37,000 to provide emergency shelter and support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Also receiving money was Reno County CASA in the amount of $5,000 to provide certified volunteers to assess the immediate needs of Children in Need of Care and juvenile offenders whose case has come to the attention of the juvenile court due to alleged child abuse or neglect.
This year, the attorney general’s office awarded more than $2.3 million in grants to local and state crime victim assistance organizations. More information on the grant programs and the full list of award recipients is available on the attorney general’s website at www.ag.ks.gov.
