HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 28-year-old Hutchinson man made an appearance via video Wednesday for the formal reading of a charge of aggravated battery.
Matthew Cole is jailed for allegedly beating 32-year-old Bobby Pinkston back on Sept. 15.
Pinkston was found by police at a home in the 100 block of East Campbell and, according to earlier statements made in court, was barely conscious. He was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he later stated it was Cole who he got into a fight with.
With the formal charge filed, the case now moves to a waiver-status docket on Oct. 14.
Cole is no stranger to law enforcement with past convictions for drugs, criminal possession of a firearm and no tax stamp for a case that goes back to 2009. And he has another conviction for aggravated battery for a case from 2007.
