HESSTON, Kan. – The Police Chief of Hesston, Doug Schroeder was called to an attempted theft call on Monday and was questioning the suspect when the suspect disregarded his commands and fled the scene in the vehicle he had been driving towing a trailer behind it.
As he took off from the scene, his vehicle door hit a Harvey County Sheriff Deputy. The Deputy was not injured.
The chase involved numerous law enforcement agencies and ended in a trailer court in Park City. The driver of the vehicle, 25 year old Matthew Barnes was arrested for flee and elude, attempted theft, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer as well as a Park City warrant.
