HAVEN, Kan. – The Haven Chamber of Commerce will be holding a ribbon cutting for the Tenawa Gas Plant this Thursday.

That will include comments by Tenawa management on the plant facility, its purpose and capabilities. Comments will also be made by Kansas Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer, Reno County Commission Chairman, James Schlickau and Haven Mayor Paula Scott.

It was back in March of 2014, when Tenawa Resource Management broke ground and immediately began construction of one of the largest gas processing plants in the United States. Construction was completed in fifteen months and the plant began commercial operation on May 15, 2015.

The Tenawa Haven Gas Plant extracts liquid hydrocarbons from natural gas gathered from across Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas and is capable of processing up to 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The plant is one of the most fuel efficient and flexible facilities in the world. Cost of the installation is estimated to be several hundred million dollars.

While Tenawa permanently employs ten people in Haven, during the construction phase, several hundred people from the local area and beyond were employed and contributing to the local economy.
