HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Although a preliminary hearing for Brennan Trass, charged with first-degree murder was scheduled for Thursday, the defense attorney for Brennan Trass asked for a continuance which the state didn’t object to.
Defense Attorney Sarah Sweet-McKinnon asked for the continuance stating she just received some of the discovery from the state and needs time to go through it with her client. She suggested rescheduling the hearing about 30-days down the road. Judge Trish Rose agreed and told the two sides she would scheduled as close to 30-days as possible
Trass is accused in the shooting death of 24-year-old Jose Morales, who was found on the floor of a residence back on Aug. 17, with multiple gunshot wounds. He died about 90 minutes later at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Trass remains jailed on a $250,000 bond and when we learn of a new hearing date, we’ll let you know.
