HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The suspects in three cases were before two different judges Tuesday morning.
The case where 19-year-old’s Jordan Leffel (top left) and Dakota Anderson (top right), who were bound over in a case where a World War II veteran was the victim and they allegedly stole items including his service medal, entered “not guilty” pleas in that case. Judge Chambers will now set a pretrial and trial date against the two.
The two were then brought before Judge Joe McCarville where they were again read charges in two other cases, apparently refiled by the state.
Leffel is charged in both while Anderson is only charged in one. The case where they both are charged is from a home invasion at a home in the 3400 block of North Waldron. In that case that goes back to May 14, he’s charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. Anderson is charged with the same crimes as Leffel, but the state added an additional charge against him of reckless aggravated battery.
In the other case against Leffel, he’s charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. This case involves the Family Affair business where he allegedly entered the property and held the victim against her will, then stole pipes, kits and cash from the business.
Judge McCarville added a $40,000 bond for the two additional cases charged against Leffel and his bond totals $106,000. He also added an additional bond of $20,000 for Anderson. His bonds total $145,000. The cases refiled by the state will now move to a waiver-status docket.
The third adult charged in the case is Frederick Lemons, who is charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated battery. He’s jailed on a bond of $96,200.
Seventeen-year-old Brendan Jones was also arrested in association with these cases. He is being prosecuted in juvenile court.
