HUTCHINSON, Kan. – United Way of Reno County has announced the kick off of the 2015-2016 fund raising campaign, “Great things happen when we Live United”.
It officially started Tuesday and will run through November 13th. The goal, which is the same as last year, is $1.5 million. This represents the needs of 32 agencies throughout Reno County. United Way of Reno County believes we can accomplish more together than one person or organization can do alone. The campaign helps us come together for the common good of the community to help achieve long lasting change.
United Way is pleased to say Russ Reinert, former CPA and CFO of a local bank, has agreed to chair the campaign this year. Russ and his wife Nancy have raised two children in Hutchinson. They have been very involved throughout the community by volunteering for many non-profit organizations over the years. Russ will be involved in all campaign activities including sharing the United Way message throughout Reno County.
United Way would like to give special acknowledgment to nine businesses who stepped out in a leadership role to start their campaign early. These pacesetter companies helped jumpstart the campaign by collectively contributing $112,790. representing 8% of the total campaign goal. They are include, Bank SNB, Eaton Corporation, Heartland Credit Union, Portfolio Recovery Associates, Prairie Hills Nursery, Stinger, Haven, Target, UPS and Woleslagel Insurance & Investments
United Way of Reno County is asking for the opportunity to share how a donation to United Way is at work in Reno County. United Way will have approximately 200 volunteers working throughout the community to drop off a workplace campaign packet. These volunteers will be asking to schedule a presentation at local organizations so that everyone can learn more about how a gift impacts so much throughout the community. If you are a local business, United Way is appreciative of the time to come to and give a brief presentation. Most people site that they did not give to a charitable organization mainly because they did not know where the money went and they were never asked. United Way of Reno County is asking all organizations to give them the opportunity to share about the needs in our community and ask for support.
