PRATT, Kan. – Sheriff deputies in Pratt were involved in a chase early Thursday morning.
According to officials, it started just before 1 a.m. when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Lake Road, approximately two miles west of SE 25th.
The suspect vehicle went left of center into the ditch and back up on the roadway. When the sheriff’s deputy activated his emergency lights, the suspect vehicle sped away, traveling south on SE 10th Avenue to SE 60th Street, and then made numerous turns on county roads.
The suspect vehicle eventually got onto K-42, west to SE 70th, and was stopped by another deputy at SE 50th Street and SE 70th Avenue.
The driver, 22-year-old Kyle Hammond, was taken into custody and booked into the Pratt County Jail for felony flee and elude, driving while suspended and numerous other traffic violations.
A female passenger that was in the vehicle was briefly detained at the scene and released, with sheriff officers getting her home safely.
There were no injuries or damage to property during this pursuit.
