HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Calvin Wright has accepted the position as Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System (HRHS), effective July 20.
In this position, Wright will assume responsibility for operation of all HRHS Health Information Technology functions including telecommunications, computer operations and electronic medical records. Wright received an undergraduate degree from Northeastern Illinois University in computer science in 1994. In 2005, he completed a Master’s degree in Computer, Information and Network Security from DePaul University in Chicago. Before joining HRHS, Wright spent three years as the Chief Technical Officer for Sinai Health System in Chicago. During the previous 15 years, Wright served as Executive Director of Global IS Operations for Arthur Gallagher and Company, Chief Information Officer for Alliance of Chicago Community Health Services, and Director, Information Technology Solutions for the University of Illinois Medical Center, all in Chicago. Wright also spent 16 years in the United States Air Force, starting in 1980.
Wright said he is enthusiastic about his family’s move to Hutchinson and they are looking forward to providing many years of service to the Hutch community. Ken Johnson, Interim President and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said Wright was hired following a national search. “Calvin is uniquely qualified for the position of Chief Information Officer as a result of 35 years experience including service in the United States Air Force and in upper level management positions for three prestigious healthcare organizations,” Johnson said. “It is most gratifying that an established healthcare professional in another state is willing to pull up roots and relocate to Hutchinson, Kan., to assist in our efforts to meet the challenges ahead in the healthcare industry. We sought an applicant that will bring a fresh approach, along with new and innovative ideas to our information systems at HRHS and the selection committee was unanimous in their decision that Calvin is a good fit for our needs going forward,” Johnson continued.
Wright and his wife Elaine are the parents of two children; Luke, 4, and LaMease, 18.
