HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The hearing scheduled for Wednesday for one of two men arrested for allegedly cultivating mushrooms, distributing mushrooms, no tax stamp and cruelty to animals was continued.
Nineteen-year-old Carlyeon Moore is charged in the case along with Jason Wineinger. The two are accused of operating a mushroom growing operation inside a north side business.
Moore was scheduled for a preliminary hearing, but the state apparently wants to have a hearing for both at the same time. The case against Wineinger is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon as part of the waiver-status docket in front of Judge Joe McCarville.
That means any hearing will possibly come later this month.
It was back on March 18 when Hutchinson police served a search warrant at the business at 2534 N. Main. They found the mushroom growing operation. They also found a dog locked in a bathroom with no food and water and living in its own waste. Animal Control was called in and removed the animal.
Police initially couldn’t find Wineinger, so they issued a warrant for his arrest and he was eventually arrested.
When the two have a hearing, we’ll let you know.
