HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 36-year-old Hutchinson man in court for a status hearing in his case complained of being in jail for more than a year and half and not being able to consult with an attorney as much as he would like. He has been jailed since Oct. 31, 2013
Felix Bribiesca is charged in two cases, one filed in November of 2013 and the other in December of 2013. He says he’s been jailed since 2013 and wants to get his cases moving. In court, the hearing was continued again at the request of his attorney. It should be noted that he is now represented by Wichita Attorney Steve Osburn, who recently came on board representing clients in Reno County.
In one case that goes back to Oct. 31, 2013, he’s charged with three counts of forgery and one count of theft by deception. In the other case, he’s charged with aggravated battery that goes back to Nov. 23, 2013. In that case, he’s charged with battering another man, Ismael Chavez.
Judge Tim Chambers noted that he’s also eager to get these cases decided as soon as possible.
The hearing for both cases is now scheduled for Sept. 4. He remains jailed on a bond of $17,750.
Bribiesca is no stranger to the court system, having served time for burglary, robbery, drugs, and obstruction. Those crimes occurred in Reno, Harvey and Sedgwick counties. He was released from prison on Sept. 16, 2013. His previous sentence expired on June 30, 2015.
