A 26-year-old Hutchinson man was denied a bond reduction after he made a first appearance on a number of serious charges including two counts of child abuse, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Badley Cole argued for the reduction of his 12-thousand, 500-dollar bond while the state argued against any reduction. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson told the court he felt the bond should stay the same if not raised saying the 4-year-old and 6-year-old kids had bruising on their bodies. He says they also found 4-syringes and a number of small zip-lock bags with a white substance on Cole which they believe is methamphetamine. Plus says Davidson, he has a number of convictions in Colorado and misdemeanor theft charge through Municipal Court here in Hutchinson.
Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen sided with the state that the bond is appropriate considering the charges and denied the request.
Cole will be back in court Wednesday to see if the state has filed formal charges.
