On Saturday, Reno County Sheriff Deputies received a call of an injury accident at K-61& Mill Street in Arlington. When deputies arrived, they noticed a red passenger car in the north ditch. The vehicle had gone off of the road and struck a tree.
Witnesses stated the vehicle was driving at a fast rate of speed and went straight off of the road to the right. The vehicle then began to smoke and witnesses pulled the driver from the vehicle to safety.
The driver, 77-year-old Alma Miller of Arlington was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The other accident also occurred on Saturday when deputies were dispatched to 3 East 56th for the report of an injury accident. When they arrived, they found a 1999 Buick Century overturned in the South ditch. A black 2007 Toyota Yaris was parked in the middle of 56th Avenue with damage to the front end.
The driver of the Buick was identified as 69-year-old Janet A. Bohren of Hutchinson was laying on the ground in the ditch near the car. She complained of a very bad headache and pain on the top left side of her head. Reno County EMS arrived on scene and took charge of Bohren. The driver of the Toyota was identified as 21-year-old Renae M. Meitler of Hutchinson. She suffered no injuries as a result of the collision.
She told deputies that both vehicles had been traveling east on 56th. Bohren was traveling in front of Meitler and turned on her right blinker and began to slow to turn into a private driveway. Meitler’s vehicle collided with the rear end of Bohlen’s vehicle. The collision forced her vehicle into the south ditch where it overturned one time and landed on it’s roof. With assistance from a passerby Bohlen was able to climb out of the vehicle.
She was taken by Lifeteam Helicopter to a Wichita hospital with unknown injuries.
Meitler was cited for following too closely.
