HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 35-year-old Hutchinson man recently arrested by police appeared from the Reno County Jail where he was read the formal charges from that capture.

The state has charged Sonny Bray with felony flee and elude, criminal possession of a firearm, that being a shotgun, criminal use of a firearm, that being the shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches, as well as three misdemeanor traffic charges.

Bray was arrested on July 19 after law enforcement got word of where he was. When they located him, he allegedly fled from officers and, during that chase, he allegedly threw the shotgun from the vehicle. He then allegedly struck a parked semi-trailer and later a curb and a stop sign, causing the vehicle to become disabled. He then fled on foot, but was quickly captured.

Judge Tim Chambers Monday sent that case to a waiver-status docket which will be on Aug. 19 along with another case already pending. In that case, he’s charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon where the state alleges that he struck a man with a glass bottle. That occurred back on April 13.

And of course, we told you about the case pending a jury trial where he’s charged with aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, felony theft, battery and interference with law enforcement. That case goes back to Sept. 26, 2014.

Judge Trish Rose Friday set another trial date in this case for Oct. 13 and a pretrial hearing for Oct. 2, this after he failed to show for a previous date.

Bray is jailed on a bond of $86,000.
