HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 36-year-old man jailed for suspicion of multiple counts of stalking and theft in one case and robbery and aggravated burglary in another was in court Monday where he entered a plea in both cases.
Timothy Drumgould entered “no contest” pleas to two felonies, that being robbery and criminal threat. He also entered pleas to four counts of stalking and two counts of theft. As a part of the plea agreement, the state lowered the stalking counts from felonies to misdemeanors. They also dropped a charge of aggravated burglary.
One of the cases deals with him stealing a cell phone and some keys. He allegedly had contact with the victim from an earlier case a number of times, violating the conditions of his bond. All of these crimes occurred on various dates in March.
The other case against Drumgould involves the same victim. In that case from Feb. 18, he allegedly forced his way into the victim’s home and stole money, as much as $600, according to statements made in court.
Bonds at one time totaled $130,000, but the court lowered it to $30,000. But, Defense Attorney Sarah Sweet-McKinnon Monday asked for an OR bond, noting that the case will fall in a border box, meaning the judge can either place him on corrections or send him to prison. The state apparently won’t oppose the defense request for corrections. Judge Chambers stated that he had already lowered the bond once and said he would leave the bond where it is for now, however, if the state indicates the victim is comfortable with it, he would lower it to $10,000.
