HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The report of a crime in South Hutchinson led to a 38-year-old Burrton man be arrested and charged by the state in a drug distribution and DUI case.
Gentry Arnel Sutton is charged possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute drugs, DUI, personal use drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of liquor.
On July 11, the officer investigating the solicitation case was able to catch up with Sutton on Washington Street in South Hutch and after the officer made contact with Sutton, he says he could immediately smell alcohol and after conducting a test, Sutton was placed under arrest for DUI and illegal transportation of liquor. A friend of Sutton’s came and tried to get his dog from his vehicle so it could be searched. While looking for a collar, she opened the center console and allegedly tossed a clear bag of a green leafy substance wrapped in smaller baggies into plain view. They also allegedly found paraphernalia items which the state claims is consistent with the distribution of marijuana. They also found two half bottles of Kentucky Deluxe Whiskey.
Sutton was in court where he was read the formal charges and the case will now go to a waiver-status docket.
