HUTCHINSON, Kan. – It may not have been in the forecast, and the conditions may not have been right for the tornado we had in Reno County on Monday, but the storm was of pretty good size.
According to the National Weather Service out of Wichita, Monday’s tornado was an EF-3 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with maximum winds of 165 mile per hour. The storm cut a path 5.3 miles long and was 350 yards wide.
Despite covering only a little more than five miles, the tornado was on the ground for 22 minutes.
