HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 17-year-old has been taken into custody after a short foot chase that began with a pick up hitting the front of a house Friday afternoon.
Police have taken Alex Currie into custody on suspicion of auto theft, flee and elude and felony obstruction. It all started just before 2:30 when an officer spotted a possible stolen vehicle just west of Plum on E. 9th Avenue.
The suspect apparently tried to flee, but instead skidded through the T intersection and struck the front porch of the home on the east side of Plum. Currie fled on foot, and after two short
chases was found hiding in some weeds near a box trailer. Currie was taken into custody with out incident. Police says a back pack was also recovered and searched but no word on what was found inside. Police noticed the pickup from a description given earlier Friday morning in a stolen vehicle report.
No one was injured in the chase or in the home that was struck.
