prison_bars2McPHERSON – A McPherson man was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility for parole for at least 25 years for felony murder according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Clinton Bascue, 32, was sentenced in McPherson County District Court by Judge Richard B. Walker. Bascue pleaded no contest to first-degree felony murder in April. He was charged with the crime in connection with the November 2014 death of James Avery Croft.

A second defendant, Kamra Kay Farrell, was charged in April with first-degree felony murder in connection with this crime. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 24 in McPherson County District Court. Charges against Farrell are merely accusations. Individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case was investigated by the McPherson Sheriff’s Office, the Galva Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Assistant Attorney General Steve Karrer prosecuted the case in coordination with the McPherson County Attorney’s Office.
