Hutch man bound over in aggravated assault case enters ‘not guilty’ pleas

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 26-year-old Hutchinson man charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm, possession of stolen property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana entered “not guilty” pleas Monday

Christopher A. Vanwye is accused of threatening his mother’s fiance during an altercation back on Dec. 15, 2014. He’s alleged to have put the gun to the head of Delbert East while threatening him.

The suspect’s mother told the court that her son was suicidal and that she had never seen him that way. Maria Vanwye testified at the previous hearing that her son put the gun to his head and she pushed the chair he was in and the gun went off, missing her son, but going through a wall, this at a home in the 800 block of West 14th. The bullet entered a neighbors home through a window and lodged in some drywall in that home.

A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 6. Vanwye remains jailed on a $15,000 bond.

Man charged for drugs, burglary and theft charges

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A man arrested by a Reno County Sheriff Deputy back in March was before a judge Monday morning where he was read the numerous charges the state has filed against him.

Craig A Schroeder is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, Auto burglary, felony theft of a firearm, interference with law enforcement, criminal damage, another count of auto burglary and misdemeanor theft.

All of the crimes occurring on or around March 9. The state alleges that he had a sellers quantity of marijuana when arrested.

The felony theft charge is for allegedly stealing a Savage Axis 243 rifle. The second auto burglary and misdemeanor theft is for stealing tools, a tool box and electronics from a vehicle.

In court, he asked for a reduction of the $10,000 bond, citing the fact that he’s been incarcerated for over 30-days. The state opposed because of the nature of the charges. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen agreed and denied the request.

The case will now move to a future waiver-status docket.

Hutch man busted on drug distribution charges makes court appearance

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 21-year-old Hutchinson man jailed early Friday after he was arrested by police on drug distribution charges appeared in court for a first appearance.

Sean Dionne faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent sell within a thousand feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school. He was also allegedly in possession of Hydrocodone and Lorazepam. The final charge is for not having a drug tax stamp.

The arrest coming just after 2 a.m., Friday morning in the 600 block of 16th Terrace.

His bond is set at $13,500 and Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen set a status hearing for July 15.

Hutch man charged in drug distribution case entered ‘not guilty’ pleas

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man bound over for trial on drug distribution charges was arraigned Monday and entered “not guilty” pleas.

Jesse Aich is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, possession of three other drugs (hydrocodone, oxycodone and morphine), as well as a final count of personal use drug paraphernalia.

The case started with a search warrant served on his residence where he apparently lived in a basement bedroom. Inside that room, law enforcement allegedly found a baggie that contained a crystal substance, a baggie containing a powder substance, a digital scale with white residue, new packaging materials, used baggies with residue, two 100-count boxes of syringes, glass pipes with burnt residue they say was used to smoke meth, several types of pills and over $1,000 in cash.

The case will now be set for a pre-trial hearing in the near future. The not guilty plea was entered in front of Judge Tim Chambers, but any trial will be in front of Judge Trish Rose.
