HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two 15-year-old teens remains in critical condition at a Wichita hospital following a one-vehicle accident east of Hutchinson Wednesday afternoon.
Dalton Stoecklein and Aaron Powers were in a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Dawson Lehman when the truck went out of control while heading west on 43rd. The truck left the road and rolled over several times before coming to rest in a wheat field just before 1 p.m. near Rayl Road. Sheriff deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol units arrived on the scene and found two of the teens lying in the middle of the road. Medical aid was provided until EMS and Fire units arrived.
Stoecklein and Powers were airlifted to Wichita Hospitals with head injuries. As of this morning, Wesley Medical Center is reporting that Stoecklein is still in ICU, while Powers is in critical condition at St Francis Hospital. Another passenger, 15-year-old Reighn Armstong, was taken by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, while the fourth passenger, 15-year-old Samuel Tarbox, was treated at the scene and released with permission from his parents. Lehman was also uninjured in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
