HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Crews from the Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 3200 block of North Halstead for a reported structure fire just after 4 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a two stall detached garage.
The fire was controlled in 15-minutes, while units remained on scene for one hour to complete overhaul and investigation. Damage is estimated at $15,000 for the structure and $8,000 for contents.
The owners of the garage were home at the time of the fire and reported the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
One firefighter received minor burns to his arms but refused treatment.
