Reno County Sheriffs Department and Fire crews called out to a water rescue shortly before midnight. According to 911 and the Reno County Sheriffs Department, 18-year old Kenzie Strawn was on west 4th Avenue, when she drove into high water near the intersection with Herron Road. For some reason, instead of calling 911, she called her sister telling her she was in the water and didn’t know where she was. It wasn’t until 3 minutes later that 911 was called.
Authorities went searching for Strawn when was found 25 minutes later more than a mile from when she entered the water, at Partridge and Clark Rd. According to deputies the water was up to the dash board of the vehicle. Strawn was rescued by a deputy who waded out to the vehicle. Sheriffs Randy Henderson wanted to stress that driving through high water is dangerous, and if you are stranded or in trouble to call 911 immediately.
