HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 36-year-old Hutchinson man convicted for downloading hundreds of child pornography videos and who waived the preliminary hearing and entered a “no contest” plea was sentenced Friday to two years and eight months in prison.
Tad Darcy Russell was convicted for sexual exploitation of a child with the arrest coming after Hutchinson Police Detective Scott Carlton began investigating him over a several-month period and says Russell downloaded child porn videos from a file sharing program called “Peer to Peer.”
They served a search warrant on his Hutchinson home and seized his computer. The videos, some an hour in length, involved kids as young as six and eight years of age.
The two sides, as part of the plea agreement, both recommended the 32 month, or two year, eight month sentence, and that he would agree to serve the sentence.
Judge Tim Chambers agreed and handed down the sentence.
