HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A unique sporting event is coming to Hutchinson this weekend. The Hutchinson Recreation Commission, in a partnership with the Midwest Masters Cycling Team (MMCT), is hosting several semi-pro cyclists as they compete in the Salt City Criterium Classic, presented by Hutchinson Regional Health Care Systems.
Cyclists from across the state and region will take on the criterium, which is a timed cycling race that uses a short course – 1 mile or shorter. The Salt City Criterium Classic features two courses in two days – the first, a .9-mile course in Downtown Hutchinson on Saturday, May 23, and the second course on the Kansas State Fairgrounds on Sunday, May 24.

Highlights for Saturday includes a Kids Ride for youth 9 and younger at 6 p.m.; a vendor/entertainment expo at DCI Park; and racing events from 3-8 p.m. Sunday’s highlights include races that start at 9 a.m.; a Kids Ride for youth 9 and younger at noon; and the Ambucs selling ice cream at its Sweet Shoppe building on the Fairgrounds.
