HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A local man only listed as living in the USA was arrested by police in the 500 block of West 13th on charges including two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault – domestic violence, violation of a protection from abuse order, stalking and interference with law enforcement.
Jason Orem is alleged to have entered a home in the 600 block of West 13th, uninvited looking for his mother who apparently has a protection from abuse order against him. That led to an argument with a man who was a friend of the resident of the home. Orem is then alleged to have pulled a knife telling the man, “I’ll do you right now, lets go outside.” All three inside the home telling police they felt threatened by Orem.
Police spotted him in the 500 block of West 13th, after responding to the report of a disturbance. He was told to get down by an officer and refused. He apparently had to be taken to the ground and then taken into custody.
The report coming in around 3:41 a.m. Monday morning.
Orem appeared before Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen via video from the Reno County Jail on the charges and bond was left at $21,500.
He’s expected back in court Wednesday for the formal reading of charges.
