BUHLER, Kan. — The Buhler USD 313 School Board authorized a reduction of $182,278 in personnel expenses for next year during Monday’s agenda session. The cuts came following an executive session to discuss personnel matters. They proposed cuts were as follows:
A 1/2 time math position at BHS
A 1/2 time science position at BHS
A 6th grade science position at PHMS
An elementary Title I position
A 1/2 Foreign Language instructor at BHS
Two assistant athletic coaches at BHS
several maintenance / custodial positions in the district
Changes in ESOL program.
Superintendent Mike Berblinger said the district will also be looking at some non-personnel changes that would be additional savings for next year.
The Board gave permission to hire three elementary positions, two that were open but on hold and one additional position needed due to class sizes.
They also gave permission to hire an instrumental position at no additional cost to the district due to outside gifts and reduction of current instructors supplemental contracts.
