HUTCHINSON. Kan. — The Hutchinson USD 308 School Board will take action on the proposal to raise the districts LOB during Monday’s meeting.
Under state law, districts must pass a resolution to increase its local option budget by July 1. The proposal before the board will be to raise the LOB from 28.5 percent to an even 30 percent. Increasing the LOB to 30 percent would generate about $508 thousand per year. The money would be used in the supplemental general fund. The district is facing budget issues and says it needs to raise revenue or make cuts.
Also Monday, the board will discuss the options before them to redistribute the elementary school population in the interest of savings. The proposal that seems to have the most support would move one full track of classes from one of the elementary schools and then revise the school boundaries to bring a better balance of students in each school.
Monday’s Hutchinson USD 308 School Board meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the school district offices at 1520 N. Plum.
