HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Low income Kansans who qualify for the free government cellphone program known as “Lifeline” are getting an upgrade.
New phones now with double the minutes are being distributed today near the Salvation Army on 8th street here in Hutchinson. The network is getting an upgrade and the new phones run on the Verizon network. Kansans who qualify are those with Vision cards, free school lunches, SSI, SSD, KanCare.
Just bring your card or a letter showing your participation in one of those programs today to the tent just west of the Salvation Army on 8th Street in Hutchinson. They will be on hand distributing the free phones until 4 p.m. today.
