HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Reno County Commissioners will discuss a proposal to increase refuse rates to 
the five surrounding counties that use the landfill by $ 0.75 during Tuesday’s agenda session.
Under the proposal, the new rates would increase the amount of revenue coming into the landfill from outside counties from $981 thousand per year, to just over $1 million annually. The landfill takes in about 125 thousand tons of refuse each year, which is about 413 tons per day. The site also collects more than 46 thousand tons of construction demolition material per year.
Again the matter is up for discussion only, and no action is expected to be taken. Tuesday’s meeting of the Reno County Commission begins at 9 a.m. at the Reno County Courthouse.
