HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A fire caused heavy damage to a structure on the south side of the city around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.
When fire units arrived, smoke was coming from the rear of the building at South Main and Carpenter and had forced their way in through an overhead garage door, finding the fire towards the middle of the building.
The fire was controlled in 20 minutes with units on scene for about two hours. Damage estimates are at $120,000, but the cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no one was injuries.
