HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Sunday morning at about 5:00 a.m., one of the traffic signal poles at 30th and Main fell into the roadway. It’s believed that this pole fell through a combination of age and strong wind gusts.
While city traffic signal technicians were repairing this pole, all thru traffic, except eastbound, was closed for much of the day. During the repair process a second pole at the same intersection was found to have been weakened by age.
Repairs on these poles will not be completed until sometime Monday. Because there are now two poles in need of repair the entire intersection of 30th and Main will be closed to traffic until sometime Monday.
Police are advising that you plan your Monday morning commute accordingly to avoid this intersection.
