HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The HutchWins campaign officially kicked off Monday morning as those supporting the Hutchinson Sports Arena renovation proposal push to convince the public to vote in favor of a sales tax increase. The increase would fund more than $29 million worth of renovations to the 62-year-old building.
Those wanting information can go to hutchwins.com or the Chamber of Commerce website and find the link there. Several events are scheduled for this week, including the volunteer rally set for Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Kansas Cosmosphere. Those supporting the arena project are asked to come and bring friends. The committee will highlight the campaign strategy and have sign up sheets for those who want to help.
Wednesday will be the monthly Chamber Breakfast at the Stringer Fine Arts Center at HCC. Tours of the arena will follow. The committee will also provide tours of the arena on Monday, Feb. 23, at 5:30 p.m. then hold a public forum at the arena on Tuesday, Feb. 24, also at 5:30.
City residents will vote on a 0.35 percent sales tax increase to fund the arena project during the April 7 election.
