HUTCHINSON, Kan. — We learned Wednesday afternoon why a local dentist was let out of the Reno County Jail after law enforcement discovered that he had an outstanding warrant from Clark County, Nevada which is where Las Vegas is located.
58-year-old Dr. Robert Sweet was wanted for writing bad checks and a charge of theft in Vegas, but apparently once Clark County authorities learned he had been picked up locally, the District Attorney’s Office for that county in Las Vegas informed local officials they would not extradite him and told them to let him go. However, we have been told that the warrant is still active. He’s accused of writing bad checks for thousands of dollars in that city.
Dr. Sweet has his practice at 1712 North Plum and is also known for running, “Big Daddy” Fireworks stands in the area.
Law enforcement discovered the warrant through the NCIC computer which led to the arrest Tuesday morning.
