HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Fire Department sent one unit to check out a report of water coming from the Landmark Hotel at 501 N. Main just after 6 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found water coming from windows on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. The leak appears to be between the 4th and 5th floors.
The water department was called to shut down the water to the building.
Westar Energy and Kansas Gas Service were called to shut down their utilities to the building.
The water damage is significant to the vacant building.
Public Works was called to bring barricades out to the scene. The north sidewalk in the unit block of West 5th Avenue has been barricaded off, as water continues to seep out of the building and will remain closed for several days.
