NEWTON, Kan.- A Kansas man died in an accident just after 6 p.m. on Monday in Harvey County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Toyota Camry driven by Michael G. Ehss, 54, Wichita, was eastbound on U.S. 50 at Hillside.
The vehicle merged into the westbound lanes to pass another vehicle and hit a semi head-on.
The Toyota came to rest in the eastbound ditch and caught fire. The semi came to rest on its side in the westbound ditch and also caught fire.
Ehss was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Sedgwick County Forensic Center.
The semi driver Jeffrey Duhsmann, 47, Westport, NE., was transported to Wesley Medical Center.
The KHP reported both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
