HUTCHINSON, Kan. — We now know the cause of the fire at the Ineeda Cleaners location at 13th & Main Thursday evening.
According to Doug Hanen of the Hutchinson Fire Department, Hutchinson and State Fire Marshall ‘ s Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire as accidental electrical. The fire appears to have started around an evaporator unit towards the rear of the store.
Crews arrived around 6:30 p.m. to find fire coming from the back of the building. Hanen said the fire was trapped between the roof and a ceiling, making it tough to get to. The fire caused significant damage to the back area of the store, and there was smoke and water damage throughout the building.
Owner Rachel Nelson told hutchpost.com that they closed the store around 6 p.m. and at 6:20 they got a call from their security service. “We drove over here, and the entire back of the building was on fire. We then heard the sirens coming down the street,” Nelson said.
There was no one in the store when the fire broke out and there were no injuries.
He says he’s received a damage estimate of $150,000, but could be more depending on clothing damage.
