HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The latest unemployment numbers show the rate for Hutchinson increasing slightly in November compared to October.
The numbers released Friday by the Kansas Department of Labor show the rate for Hutchinson is at 4.2 percent for November, while the rate was at 4 percent in October. The rate is still lower than November of last year when the rate was 4.5 percent. There were 800 residents of the city looking for work in November, according to the report.
The unemployment rate for Reno County also increased in November to 3.9 percent, up from the 3.6 percent in October, but again lower than the rate in November of 2013 when the rate was 4.2 percent. In the county, there were 1,314 residents looking for work, but most of those residents are in the city.
The surrounding counties also had slight rate increases. Harvey County’s rate is at 4.6 percent, Kingman at 2.6 percent, McPherson at 4 percent, Pratt at 2.4 percent, Rice at 2.7 percent, Stafford at 3.2 percent and Sedgwick County at 4.9 percent.
The state’s November seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, down from 4.4 percent in October and down from 5 percent in November 2013.
