Winter Weather

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
6 AM CST THURSDAY.

TIMING…ONSET LATE THIS AFTERNOON IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS…THEN SPREADING RAPIDLY NORTH AND EAST THIS EVENING. THE BULK OF THE SNOW IS EXPECTED BETWEEN 7 PM AND 1 AM.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…2 TO 3 INCHES ON AVERAGE…WITH 3 INCHES IN CENTRAL KANSAS. THAT WOULD INCLUDE MCPHERSON…MARION AND CHASE COUNTIES.

TOTAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS…VERY LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS.

MAIN IMPACT…BRIEF PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE ARE POSSIBLE EARLY IN THE EVENT. THIS WOULD MAKE UNTREATED ROADS…BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES VERY SLICK. REDUCED VISIBILITY AND SLICK ROADS ARE ALSO LIKELY IN THE HEAVIER SNOW.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF WINTER WEATHER WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES. USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
