Reno County Jail

A 33-year-old Hutchinson man failed to get his bond lowered or raised after he was arrested Saturday in what appears to be a domestic violence case, but resulted in a child being badly injured.

Dwayne Chronister of 715 Brookside faces possible charges of aggravated assault, battery domestic violence and aggravated battery. But, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson told Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen that there could also be a charge of abuse of a child filed. The child apparently suffered bad injuries to the face, including the need for stitches, and may have also suffered a concussion, that according to Davidson.

Chronister requested a signature bond wanting to get back to work, but the state opposed because of the nature of charges as well as a criminal history which included burglaries in his past. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen denied the request saying he wouldn’t raise the bond, but wouldn’t lower it either. That means the bond will stay at 11-thousand, 500-dollars. Chronister was also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims.

He could be back in court as early as Wednesday or whenever the state files formal charges.
