A Party led to a bad accident on the Old K-61 south of 43 rd early Saturday morning leading to two people being injured, one bad enough that he was taken to a Wichita hospital.
Injured was 18-year-old Jesus Valtierra and 14-year-old Doshja Sparks. They were both passengers in a vehicle driven by an unknown individual.
According to Reno County Sheriff’s officials, it started around 12:46 a-m, Saturday deputies were dispatched to a reported injury accident at 30th and Buhler Rd. When officers arrived, they couldn’t find any accident.
A few minutes later, the Hutchinson Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire at the dead end of Old K-61 Highway and 43rd. They found that a truck had hit a tree head-on and the tree and the truck were on fire. Valtierra of Hutchinson was laying in the grass with his clothes partially burned off of him. He had a broken ankle, facial lacerations and other possible internal injuries. He was flown by helicopter to Wesley Medical Center. Starks received injuries to both legs and abrasions to her forehead. Sheriff officials didn’t indicate if she was taken to any hospital.
Sheriff officials say the two individuals advised they had been at a party and that Valtierra was the victim of an aggravated battery. Valtierra was placed into the back of this pickup and was being driven to the hospital when they apparently had an accident at 30th & Buhler Rd., but left there to go to the hospital. The driver apparently fled the scene, however, an individual was located later at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and is being investigated as the driver. The investigation still continues. That individuals name has not been released.
