HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The two people arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery made first appearances Thursday morning where they were told of the possible charges.
Potential charges against 30-year-old Anthony Everhart and 20-year-old Francesca Wharton includes aggravated robbery. Everhart also faces a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
The two were taken into custody around 9:45 Wednesday evening. The 23-years-old victim Tara Moeller was apparently lured to the Days Inn Hotel by the two when they held her at gunpoint and took numerous items including her purse.
In court, Everhart claimed it was big misunderstanding and wanted his bond reduced, but the state was against any reduction saying that they held the victim at gun point. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson told the judge he doesn’t see any misunderstanding. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen denied the request, so he’ll stay in jail unless he can post the bond of $27,500. Wharton also failed to get a reduction. Her bond is set at $25,000.
Both have other cases pending and will be back in court on this latest case on October 22. Wharton was actually scheduled for court Thursday for two other cases against her, but once her attorney Alice Osburn was told of the new arrest requested a continuance. The other cases include four counts of forgery in one and traffic in contraband into a correctional facility in the other.
Everhart was in court back in July on meth distribution charges. He was arrested along with 24-year-old Kylie Berry. Both faces charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school, possession of alprazolam with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school, possession of clonozepam and possession of drug paraphernalia.
They were arrested when officers served a search warrant on a home and say they located a pink purse. They allegedly found a little over three grams of methamphetamine and the other drugs.
The residence is located within a thousand feet of Wiley Elementary School.
