TOPEKA, Kan. — At a recent Board of Directors meeting, the Kansas National Education Association appointed leaders to key positions. Mark Farr, a science teacher from the Nickerson area, assumed the key position of KNEA President in late July following the passing of former President, Karen Godfrey.
At the September meeting of the KNEA Board of Directors, former Secretary Treasurer, Sherri Schwanz, was appointed to serve as the KNEA Vice President and Kimberly Howard was appointed as KNEA Secretary Treasurer.
“Public schools are vitally important to the well-being and future of our state. I’m both blessed and honored to be in a position representing the dedicated professionals who serve our students every day.” He says he is also excited to ask all supporters of Kansas public schools, parents, community organizations, elected officials and the business community to join them as they lead Kansas public schools into the future.
Schwanz is a music teacher from Lansing and Howard is an English teacher for speakers of other languages in the Wichita school district.
